About Me

I grew up in the farming and beach town of Oxnard, California. Surrounded by music my entire childhood, it felt like I was destined to fulfill a life in music. By the mid 90’s, I was a very timid, yet totally inspired aspiring teenage musician. Fresh out of high school, I was given an opportunity to join my favorite local band, and I hesitantly told them “thanks, but no thanks”. After a couple months, I was given a second chance to join the band. I had done much soul searching, and finally being true to myself, I accepted the opportunity to join No Motiv. It was a decision that changed the course of my life forever.

In April of 1998, I joined No Motiv as their bass player. By October of that same year, we embarked on our first tour in support of Good Riddance, as we traveled through Midwest America, as well as Western Canada. We released our debut for Vagrant Records, “…And The Sadness Prevails” in February of 1999.

Between the years of 1999 to 2005, being a touring musician was a life affirming experience. Having released 3 full length records and an EP on Vagrant Records, it was an era of unforgettable moments. We were spoiled, having shared the stage with the likes of Blink-182, Alkaline Trio, Saves The Day, Andrew WK, Social Distortion, RX Bandits, Dashboard Confessional, Face to Face, Jimmy Eat World, and MXPX…the list goes on and on. Our swan song for Vagrant Records is a highlight for me. I recorded and engineered our 2004 album, “Daylight Breaking”. Our full time touring ended in 2005, and the band went on to other endeavors until 2012, when we released our last EP, “Winterlong”. Most recently, in 2019, I remixed “…And The Sadness Prevails”, which we released as a 20th anniversary version of the album.

After years of touring and making records with No Motiv, in 2005 I decided to move back to Orange County, where I had originally moved after high school. I had already used my mostly self taught methods of recording to produce records such as: The Warriors “War is Hell”, In Control “Kayfabe Memories”, and Vendetta “Time Will Tell”, but I felt it was time to expand my knowledge in order to become a more technically advanced Audio Engineer.

While enrolled in the Recording Engineering program at Long Beach City College in the fall of 2005, I continued to make records at my small rehearsal space studio in Santa Ana. I somehow managed to keep my studies going, while also spending significant time continuing my work with The Warriors. Between 2005 to 2007, I produced “Beyond The Noise”, joined the band as a fill in drummer in 2006 touring with Comeback Kid, and as a bass player on “Genuine Sense of Outrage” in 2007. My performance on that album led to my first taste of international touring, having gone to Australia and Europe to tour with Parkway Drive. My love for the band has stayed strong, having joined the band as a permanent member in 2009. We’ve since made two more albums, 2010’s “See How You Are” on Victory Records, and 2019’s “Monomyth” on Pure Noise Records.

In September of 2008, I was given the opportunity to take my audio engineering skills on the road to become the Front of House Sound Engineer for RX Bandits. This was a decision that proved to be a turning point in my career. I have been working with RX Bandits since 2008 until most recently in 2020. Through the past 14 years, I solidified my skills as their FOH Engineer, and learned skills being their Backline Technician, as well as Stage and Production manager.

Along with live mixing RX Bandits, I have also had the pleasure of mixing Parkway Drive, Circa Survive, This Wild Life, Set Your Goals, Knapsack, and The Movielife, to name a few. From 2014 to 2015, I was drum technician for Cyrus Bolooki, bass technician for Ian Grushka, both of the band, New Found Glory. In 2016 I was a bass technician for Juan Nelson of Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals. Most recently, in 2022 I worked as drum technician for Chris Tomson and Garrett Ray from Vampire Weekend.

In 2020, I joined a group of artists named, Indie Drummer Collective. Through joining the collective, I learned content creating for online social media. In the past 2 years, I have amassed a collection of self created videos, ranging from live performance studio drum cover videos, to remote collaborative videos, as well as video and podcast interviews. I have grown to love video editing and combining my skills as an audio engineer to make online video content.

Through the experiences from this 24 year long journey, my goal in life is to continue learning new skills to help bolster my unique skillset. I strive to create art at a high level, help others to create art at a high level, and thrive in music and audio. In a musical world that is constantly evolving, I pride myself in staying true to what I believe in, the DIY ethic, with roots of a young hardcore kid from Oxnard, California. I am here carving out my own place in music, taking others along with me on the magic carpet ride.
